Yemeni Navy Foils Iranian Smuggling and Thwarts Houthi Attack in Red Sea

The Yemeni Navy announced that it foiled a "terrorist attack" carried out by Houthi militias in the Red Sea on Wednesday evening, just hours after seizing an Iranian smuggling shipment carrying equipment destined for the Houthis.

The military media of the National Resistance reported that the Navy spotted five Houthi boats attempting to approach the liberated islands overlooking international shipping lanes in the Red Sea, and engaged them. It confirmed that naval patrols clashed with the terrorist boats and forced them to flee northward, towards the coasts of Hodeidah city.

While no immediate comment was issued by the Houthis, the source revealed that a drone was shot down while it was conducting a reconnaissance mission prior to the Houthi boats' operation.

According to the military media, the attack attempt came hours after the Yemeni Navy succeeded in intercepting and seizing a smuggling haul containing equipment used in the drone manufacturing industry, smuggled by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for its proxies in Yemen, namely the Houthi militias.
