Yemen State Security Kills ISIS Spokesman in Joint Hadramout Operation
Yemen's Central State Security announced on Tuesday the execution of a joint security operation that resulted in the elimination of a leader in the "ISIS" organization, in an operation carried out in the city of Seiyun, Hadramout Governorate.
The agency clarified in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by "Nashwan News," that the operation targeted the one it described as the "media spokesman" for the terrorist "ISIS" organization, nicknamed "Abu Hudhayfah al-Ansari." The operation was carried out in coordination with the forces of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Yemeni Counter-Terrorism Force "Force 22."
It added that the operation was conducted at dawn on Tuesday, based on Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Resolution No. (5) of 2024, and within the framework of intelligence cooperation with the Coalition to Support Legitimacy. The joint special forces managed to track the fugitive and pinpoint his location inside a residential house in the city of Seiyun.
The statement continued that the operation resulted in the killing of "Abu Hudhayfah al-Ansari" while he was hiding in the house, which also contained eight civilians, including one man, two women, and five children. It noted that the women and children were evacuated and transferred to a safe location without being harmed, while another individual who was with the deceased was apprehended after resisting and was provided with medical care due to his injury.
The Central State Security said that search teams found at the site an explosive belt that was defused and detonated, in addition to two laptops, five mobile phones, and two tablets. These items were seized and referred to the competent authorities to complete legal and evidentiary procedures. It confirmed that the joint forces had left the operational area after the successful completion of the mission.
In conclusion, the agency praised the valor of the personnel of the Coalition's special forces and the counter-terrorism unit "Force 22," commending the intelligence efforts and operational planning that contributed to the precise execution of the operation and the avoidance of any collateral damage to civilians or property in the densely populated residential neighborhood. It also reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to pursue security-wanted terrorists, apprehending them, and bringing them to justice, as part of the Yemeni government's efforts to combat terrorism, while maintaining ongoing coordination with the Coalition brothers and international partners, stressing that "Yemen will not be a safe haven for terrorist groups."
